Hoymiles Supports Solar Panel Upcycling in Freiburg for Third Year
Solar energy solutions provider Hoymiles supported a solar panel upcycling event in Freiburg, Germany, for the third consecutive year, enabling 600 used panels to be repurposed.

Hoymiles, a global provider of solar energy and storage solutions, has supported a solar panel upcycling initiative in Freiburg, Germany, for the third year running. The company supplied 300 microinverters for the assembly of 300 plug-in photovoltaic (PV) systems during the event.
The initiative saw over 500 citizens, local organizations, and public representatives participate. Together, they gave a second life to 600 used solar panels, which had previously operated for 13 years on the roof of a factory. The majority of these panels were found to be suitable for immediate reuse.
Organized by the German non-profit BalkonSolar e.V., the event highlights the potential for reusing functional solar equipment. Hoymiles' contribution of microinverters is key to converting these previously used rooftop modules into complete, safe plug-in solar systems.
This collaboration aligns with Hoymiles' broader commitment to sustainability and its "Open Energy for All" vision, which aims to make smart solar energy more inclusive and accessible. The company's microinverters are noted for their suitability in upcycling applications due to their independent module operation.
