HP, Asus, and Acer Adopt CXMT Memory Chips Amid Shortage
PC makers HP, Asus, and Acer have begun limited adoption of DRAM chips from China's CXMT due to a global memory shortage and surging AI infrastructure demand. The deployment is currently small-scale.
Major PC manufacturers HP, Asus, and Acer have started to incorporate DRAM chips produced by China's ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). This move comes in response to a global shortage of memory chips, exacerbated by the high demand for AI infrastructure.
Sources indicate that several leading PC vendors completed the qualification process for CXMT's DRAM chips around mid-2026 and have since begun integrating them into a limited number of notebook PCs. However, the volume of CXMT chips being used and the number of laptop models featuring them remain very restricted.
CXMT is prioritizing most of its production capacity for domestic Chinese customers, including Huawei, which consequently limits the supply available to other PC vendors. Laptops equipped with CXMT memory chips are currently being sold primarily in markets outside the United States.
