HPQ Silica Polvere and Evonik Corporation Sign Letter of Intent for Fumed Silica Reactor Commercialization
HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. has signed a letter of intent with Evonik Corporation to collaborate on validating the commercial potential of a new fumed silica manufacturing process during a pilot phase.

Montreal, Canada – HPQ Silicon Inc. announced that its subsidiary, HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. (HSPI), has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Evonik Corporation, a global specialty chemicals company.
The agreement aims for HSPI and Evonik to collaborate in validating the Fumed Silica Reactor (FSR) process's ability to produce cost-effective, low-carbon material that meets Evonik's specifications. This step represents a significant advancement in commercializing the FSR technology, building on previous sample tests where HSPI's fumed silica met Evonik's requirements.
HPQ Silicon President and CEO Bernard Tourillon highlighted that the LOI confirms industry interest in the FSR technology's commercial potential. He noted Evonik's over 80 years of experience in manufacturing and selling fumed silica as an invaluable resource for process optimization. Evonik, a leading producer of fumed silica and metal oxides, consistently seeks next-generation technologies that enhance sustainability and product performance.
PyroGenesis Canada Inc., which previously announced its intention to acquire a 50% stake in HSPI, views the agreement as confirmation of the FSR process's market potential. PyroGenesis President and CEO P. Peter Pascali stated that collaboration with a company of Evonik's stature validates their commitment to the technology.
HPQ Silicon focuses on developing green processes for silica and silicon-based materials, supported by technology partners PyroGenesis Canada and NOVACIUM SAS. The company aims to produce critical materials essential for achieving net-zero emissions.
