HPQ Silicium and Novacium Sign MOU with GLD Alloys for Green Hydrogen Production
HPQ Silicium and its subsidiary Novacium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GLD Alloys to accelerate the industrial-scale production of METAGENE™ fuel.

Montreal, Canada – Technology company HPQ Silicium Inc., along with its French subsidiary NOVACIUM SAS, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with GLD Alloys, a Malaysian producer of recycled aluminum. The agreement aims to accelerate the industrial-scale production of a fuel called METAGENE™.
METAGENE™ is described as a novel fuel enabling the autonomous generation of high-pressure green hydrogen. While the MOU does not include binding terms, it establishes a framework for collaboration. John Lee, CEO of GLD Alloys, stated that the partnership will expedite the transition to a cleaner energy industry and meet the growing demand for green hydrogen.
Through this collaboration, HPQ, Novacium, and GLD will combine their strengths to leverage GLD's expertise in producing low-carbon recycled aluminum alloys, a key component of METAGENE™. According to HPQ, this fuel, based on a silicon-aluminum formulation, produces 1.25 m³ of hydrogen per kilogram. GLD's annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of recycled aluminum brings quality, cost-efficiency, and scalability to the partnership.
The partnership is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions due to the use of recycled aluminum. GLD claims that recycled aluminum production results in 95% less CO₂ emissions compared to primary aluminum. HPQ and Novacium aim to produce 500 tons of METAGENE™ annually by 2027, which they estimate would translate to an annual CO₂ reduction of over 5,500 tons.
