HPQ Silicium's Fumed Silica Reactor Pilot Plant Produces First Material

HPQ Silicon Inc. announced that its subsidiary, HPQ Silica Polvere Inc. (HSPI), has successfully produced material during the first batch test of its Fumed Silica Reactor (FSR) pilot plant.

The technology provider, PyroGenesis Inc., confirmed that the material generated exhibits visual and morphological characteristics consistent with successful laboratory-scale production. The company plans to conduct comprehensive analysis of the material at an independent university laboratory to validate its quality and inform any required process optimizations for future pilot-scale trials.

Bernard Tourillon, President and CEO of HPQ Silicon, expressed excitement over the initial production success. This milestone follows earlier laboratory validation that attracted interest from parties, including a Letter of Intent with Evonik. HPQ anticipates being able to share samples with interested parties under non-disclosure agreements in the coming weeks.

The FSR pilot plant represents a significant scale-up from the laboratory system, designed to validate the plasma-based fumed silica production process under industrial conditions. Subsequent tests will focus on achieving consistent and repeatable production, ensuring product specifications meet or exceed prior results. The goal is to transition from theoretical modeling to scaled industrial validation of the technology.
