Huawei and HP sign global patent cross-licensing agreement
Huawei and HP Inc. have signed a multiyear global patent cross-licensing agreement covering certain Huawei Wi-Fi patents, the companies announced August 26.
Chinese technology firm Huawei and U.S.-based HP Inc. have entered into a multiyear global patent cross-licensing agreement. The deal, announced on August 26, pertains to specific Huawei patents related to Wi-Fi technology.
Under the terms of the agreement, HP will gain access to specified Huawei Wi-Fi technologies. In return, Huawei will receive reciprocal patent rights from HP. The companies did not disclose details regarding any new hardware products or joint commercial projects, stating the agreement is focused solely on intellectual property licensing.
Wi-Fi standards are widely used across computing devices, mobile equipment, home appliances, and other connected devices. Huawei has stated its contribution to Wi-Fi technologies across successive generations.
