Huawei Begins HarmonyOS 7 Beta With Over 100 Updates

Huawei has commenced beta testing for its HarmonyOS 7 operating system, with the update reportedly bringing more than one hundred new features. The beta release focuses on significant improvements to the user interface and artificial intelligence capabilities.

A major interface enhancement is the introduction of a "global immersive space." This feature extends visual effects deeper into the operating system, encompassing not just home screens but also secondary pages, pop-up windows, menus, and other UI components across various applications. This aims for a more cohesive visual experience.

The AI assistant, XiaoYi, has been significantly redeveloped using an Agentic framework. This upgrade allows XiaoYi to learn and evolve autonomously, better understand ambiguous user instructions, and break down complex, multi-step tasks. The advanced AI features are dependent on cloud computing resources and will be progressively rolled out.

Security has also been bolstered with Huawei's new "Xingdun" anti-fraud system. This includes AI-powered voice change detection and QR code risk monitoring. These security measures are being integrated into third-party applications such as Douyin and Alipay.

The HarmonyOS 7 beta is now available for select users, with a wider public release anticipated for the autumn. The beta system package size is reported to be around 10GB, indicating substantial additions to the OS.
