Huawei Cloud to release openPangu-2.1-Pro model on November 15
Huawei Cloud will update its MaaS platform with the openPangu-2.1-Pro model, aiming to improve code generation for HarmonyOS native applications.
Huawei Cloud is scheduled to deploy its updated openPangu-2.1-Pro model to its Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform on November 15. The update is designed to enhance the quality of ArkTS code generation, a critical component for developers building native applications for the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
Alongside the core model, the update integrates the new version across several enterprise software tools, including the AgentArts intelligence platform, CodeArts development suite, and OfficeAce workplace software. Users have been notified of the pending changes via official communication channels.
This launch follows a period of transition for the company's AI portfolio. Huawei previously announced it would discontinue the openPangu-2.0-Flash and openPangu-2.0-Pro services, which are set to be fully decommissioned by the end of November 2026. The company clarified that reports suggesting a complete withdrawal of the Pangu series were inaccurate, stating that the release of the 2.1 series aligns with its long-term product roadmap.
The 2.1-Pro model is already active within the XiaoYi Work assistant, where it supports task-enhancement features for HarmonyOS users.
