Huawei Demonstrates Autonomous Car Charging Concept
Huawei has released a video showcasing a concept for autonomous vehicle charging, where a car drives itself to a charging station and a robotic arm connects the charging cable.

Chinese technology company Huawei has released a video demonstrating a concept for future autonomous vehicle charging. The concept shows a car independently navigating to a charging station, where a robotic arm automatically connects the charging cable. This technology is part of Huawei's broader "10-minute Qiankun" intelligent driving ecosystem.
In the demonstration, a vehicle owner can initiate the charging process remotely via a mobile application. The car utilizes the Qiankun ADS (Autonomous Driving System) to identify and drive to an available charging spot. Upon arrival, the car's charging port cover opens automatically, and a robotic arm precisely aligns and plugs in the charging connector. The system provides real-time updates on battery status and estimated charging completion time, along with automatic payment processing.
Once charging is complete, the robotic arm disconnects the charger, and the vehicle can then autonomously drive to a designated waiting area. This demonstration highlights advancements in vehicle automation and the potential for future charging infrastructure, requiring compatible stations and infrastructure from Huawei's ecosystem partners.
Huawei states that the Qiankun ecosystem's parking payment service allows for one-tap payment through the app, eliminating the need for QR code scanning. The company plans to expand its services to cover a significant number of parking spaces and charging points, as well as integrate car care services. Huawei's Qiankun system is currently implemented in over 50 car models from more than 25 automotive brands.
