A video featuring Huawei executive Yu Chengdong has sparked speculation about a new smartphone. Online observers suggest it could be a new triple-folding Mate XT2.
IT Home reported on August 23rd that a video released by Huawei executive Yu Chengdong has inadvertently revealed a new smartphone. The video, which also featured the Luxeed G9 electric vehicle and celebrity appearances by Shen Teng and Yang Mi, has drawn attention for the unannounced device.
Towards the end of the video, actress Yang Mi requested a group photo with the car. At this moment, Yu Chengdong produced a new handset with a distinctly different design. The device was covered by a protective case, obscuring specific details.
However, online commenters, observing the phone's thickness, have speculated that it might be the Huawei Mate XT2. This device has been rumored to be Huawei's new triple-folding smartphone, part of the "Extraordinary Master" line.
Previous leaks suggest Huawei plans two foldable phone launches in September: a triple-folding model early in the month and a larger folding device, the Mate X8, later in the month. Both are expected to feature the latest flagship processor and be positioned in a premium price segment.
