Huawei Explains Filter Incompatibility in New Camera Module
Huawei has clarified why its new Ruiying Z10 camera module does not directly support 62mm filters. The company intentionally designed the lens barrel to prevent obstruction of the "red maple" camera, which could cause color distortion.
Chinese technology company Huawei has addressed user concerns regarding filter compatibility with its newly released Ruiying Z10 camera module. While the lens cap is marked as 62mm, users discovered that standard filters of this size do not fit correctly.
Li Xiaolong, CTO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, explained that the lens barrel was deliberately designed to be incompatible with standard 62mm filters. This design choice aims to prevent the filter from obstructing the "red maple" camera sensor, a component that could lead to color shifts or inaccuracies in photos.
The Ruiying Z10 module, launched alongside the Huawei Mate 90 series, is priced at 5,999 yuan (approximately $820 USD). A "Collector's Edition" set is available for 19,499 yuan (approximately $2,670 USD). The module features a 1-inch 50MP sensor and offers 10x continuous optical zoom, covering a focal range of 24mm to 240mm with an aperture of F2.0-F4.5.
Huawei suggests that users wishing to attach filters can utilize an adapter to convert the connection to 77mm, allowing for the use of 77mm filters. The company indicated that official Huawei filter accessories are expected at a later time.
