The indictment further claims that Huawei and some subsidiaries conducted business in North Korea despite U.S. sanctions. It also alleges the company installed surveillance equipment that aided Iran in spying on protesters during 2009 anti-government demonstrations.
Huawei's legal team has sought to dismiss the case, arguing the allegations are too vague and improperly extend U.S. authority extraterritorially. The company has publicly stated that the prosecutors' narrative is "demonstrably false."
The company, a leading global supplier of telecommunications network equipment, is banned from selling to U.S. carriers due to security concerns and faces restrictions from other Western nations.
