Huawei files for OSTA trademark amid rumors of new sub-brand
Huawei has submitted a trademark application for "OSTA," covering various electronic devices including smartphones and wearables.
Huawei has filed a trademark application for "OSTA" with the China National Intellectual Property Administration. The registration covers a broad category of electronics, specifically smartphones, tablet computers, smartwatches, smart eyewear, and integrated circuits.
Industry speculation suggests that OSTA may serve as the English-language branding for a new Huawei sub-brand, known locally as "Xingmang." Leaked imagery circulating online indicates that an upcoming device, designated as the OSTA O1 Pro, may be the first product to feature this branding on its packaging.
Although trademark records show early filings dating back to 2004, the current application is undergoing substantive examination. Huawei has not yet released a formal statement regarding the nature of the OSTA brand or its integration into their existing product portfolio.
