Huawei files new "Xingmang" trademark application
Huawei has filed a new trademark application for "Xingmang" in China. The filing has renewed speculation about a potential new smartphone sub-brand.

Chinese technology giant Huawei has filed a new application for the trademark "Xingmang" with China's trademark office, according to records reported on October 12.
The application, covering Class 9 products including smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, smart glasses, headphones, and integrated-circuit chips, is currently awaiting substantive examination. Huawei's earliest filing for the name dates back to April 2019.
The latest filing has reignited speculation about a potential Huawei smartphone sub-brand. Earlier reports in September suggested the company was preparing a new online-focused smartphone brand, possibly for a November debut. Those reports had mentioned the name "Xingyao," but Huawei has not officially announced any sub-brand launch under either name.
While trademark applications do not guarantee a product launch, they often signal a company's intention to secure potential future product names or expand its market presence.
