Huawei GT Runner 2 Brings Pro Training Science to Everyday Runners
Huawei has launched the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2, aiming to provide professional-grade GPS tracking and marathon modes for all runners. The watch was developed with input from marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge.

Huawei has introduced its HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2 smartwatch, aiming to democratize sports science technology for runners of all levels. The device promises professional-grade GPS positioning and specialized marathon training modes.
According to Huawei, the watch offers precise pace tracking and consistent monitoring throughout long-distance runs like marathons. The development of the GT Runner 2 involved input from two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, who serves as a global ambassador for the smartwatch.
Kipchoge is currently undertaking a journey to run a marathon on each of the seven continents to inspire a more active lifestyle globally. His recent participation in the NB42K Porto Alegre marathon in Brazil, where he wore the GT Runner 2, was the second stop on his "Eliud's Running World" tour. He previously won his first Olympic gold medal in the same city at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The smartwatch features an "intelligent marathon mode" designed to support various World Athletics-sanctioned races. This mode assists athletes in preparation, race day execution, and recovery. A notable feature is the virtual pacer, which calculates and displays the real-time pace needed to achieve goals, a capability previously exclusive to elite athletes.
The launch and Kipchoge's use of the watch at the Porto Alegre marathon symbolize the convergence of elite athletic performance and accessible technology. Huawei states that the device's accuracy and features have been tested not just in labs, but in real-world competition, personally verified by Kipchoge himself.
