Huawei HarmonyOS Adds Support for Apple AirPods

Huawei's HarmonyOS 7 update now allows Apple's AirPods wireless earbuds to connect to Huawei devices, offering connection alerts and battery status.

18 October 2026

Huawei has introduced support for Apple's AirPods wireless earbuds within its HarmonyOS 7 operating system, enabling enhanced connectivity with Huawei smartphones. Announced initially in September, the update allows various AirPods models to pair with Huawei devices, providing notifications upon connection and displaying battery levels.

The feature supports a range of AirPods models, including AirPods 1, 2, Pro (1st gen), 3, Pro (2nd gen), and Max, for integration with HarmonyOS. Once connected, users receive alerts when opening the AirPods case and can monitor the battery status of the earbuds and case via the Huawei phone's status bar or a dedicated widget.

This functionality is exclusive to Huawei smartphones running HarmonyOS 7.0 or later. Other Huawei devices, such as tablets and PCs, will continue to function with AirPods as standard Bluetooth headphones. AirPods also do not support automatic re-pairing with non-Apple devices; users must manually connect them through the Bluetooth settings on their Huawei phone.

The integration aims to offer users more convenience when using Apple's popular wireless earbuds with their Huawei devices, though it does not replicate the seamless auto-pairing experience found within Apple's ecosystem. Users need to ensure their devices are updated to HarmonyOS 7.0 or above to access these new features.
