Huawei held a press briefing in Shanghai where Xu Songyu, head of wireless terminal chip product management for Huawei's semiconductor business, discussed the Kirin 9030 processor series.

Xu described the Kirin 9030 series as a "peak" for China's semiconductor industry and a "masterpiece of collective efforts." The series first appeared on November 25, 2025, with the launch of Huawei's Mate 80 smartphones.

The presentation also reviewed the history of Huawei's Kirin processors, starting with the K3V2 in 2012 and leading up to the Kirin 9000 in 2020, which was the world's first 5nm 5G System-on-Chip (SoC).

Performance gains for the Kirin 9030 series are reported to be substantial. The company stated that CPU performance has increased by 25%, GPU performance by 40%, and NPU computing power by 70% compared to previous generations.
