Huawei launches Intelligent RAIL 2.0 to accelerate global rail intelligence upgrade

BERLIN – At InnoTrans 2026, the world's largest trade fair for railway transport, Huawei introduced its next-generation Intelligent RAIL 2.0 solution. The technology company aims to accelerate the digital and intelligent advancement of the global railway industry.

The event, held from September 22–25, brought together industry leaders such as the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), alongside global clients and ecosystem partners to discuss the future of the rail sector.

Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, emphasized in his speech that the company's "intelligent RAIL" strategy leverages digital and intelligent technologies to enhance railway safety, efficiency, and service levels. Intelligent RAIL 2.0 comprises 20 new scenario-based solutions focusing on railway construction, passenger and freight transport, and the maintenance of facilities and equipment.

Representatives from UIC and UITP noted at the event that the integration of AI applications and digitalization is becoming increasingly critical within the railway industry. A report published by UITP and the China Association of Metro (CAMET) demonstrated how AI has significantly improved the operational efficiency and safety of metro systems.

To date, Huawei has served over 50 major railway clients worldwide and more than 300 urban rail lines, covering over 180,000 kilometers of track. The company plans to continue its focus on ecosystem collaboration to foster a smarter and greener railway transport future.
