Huawei Launches Intelligent RAIL 2.0 to Accelerate Global Railway Modernization

Huawei has introduced Intelligent RAIL 2.0, its next-generation solution aimed at enhancing intelligence in the global railway industry. The announcement was made at InnoTrans 2026, the world's largest railway transport trade fair held in Berlin from September 22-25.

The new system is designed to address various scenarios within the railway sector, focusing on accelerating modernization and intelligence. Industry organizations such as the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) participated in the launch event, alongside global customers and ecosystem partners, to discuss the future of the industry.

Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, highlighted the increasing integration of digital and intelligent technologies into core business processes to solve industry challenges. He noted trends such as the evolution from GSM-R to FRMCS, a shift towards condition-based and predictive maintenance, and the development of service-oriented logistics and seamless travel experiences.

Huawei's Intelligent RAIL strategy leverages digital and intelligent technologies to improve railway safety, efficiency, service integration, and long-term development. The Intelligent RAIL 2.0 system comprises 20 scenario-based solutions targeting construction, passenger and freight transport, and equipment maintenance. Huawei provides the communication and digital platforms, while partners specialize in industry applications, offering modular solutions tailored to customer needs.

Currently, Huawei serves over 50 major railway clients globally, supporting more than 300 urban rail lines totaling over 180,000 kilometers. The company aims to foster deeper industry collaboration and promote the integration of advanced technologies into railway operations, driving the sector towards a safer, more efficient, and greener intelligent future.
