Huawei launches Intelligent RAIL 2.0 to accelerate smart railway development

Huawei introduced its next-generation Intelligent RAIL 2.0 solution at the InnoTrans 2026 trade fair in Berlin. The technology giant stated that the solution is designed to accelerate the adoption of intelligent and digital technologies across various segments of the global railway industry.

The launch event was attended by representatives from international rail industry organizations, including the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Discussions focused on the future of the rail sector and the role of digital solutions.

Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei's Smart Rail BU, highlighted in his speech the importance of integrating digital and smart technologies into business processes to address current challenges. He mentioned trends such as the transition from GSM-R to FRMCS, predictive maintenance, and the development of multimodal logistics.

The Intelligent RAIL 2.0 solution comprises 20 application-specific solutions targeting infrastructure construction, passenger and freight transport, and maintenance. Huawei provides the communication platforms and digital solutions, while partners offer industry-specific applications, enabling modular and customizable solutions for clients.

With a client base of over 50 major railway operators and more than 300 urban rail lines worldwide, Huawei aims to continue supporting the global rail sector in its transition toward a safer, more efficient, and greener future through collaboration with its partners.
