Huawei launches Mate 90 series with new Tau chipset
Huawei has officially launched its next-generation flagship HUAWEI Mate 90 Series. The entire series is equipped with the flagship Tau chipset, the Kirin 9050 Pro, featuring advancements in camera and display technology.

SHENZHEN, China – Huawei officially unveiled its next-generation flagship HUAWEI Mate 90 Series on October 1, 2026. Central to the new lineup is the company's new LogicFolding Tau chipset, designated as Kirin 9050 Pro, which is integrated across all models.
Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer BG CEO, highlighted the chipset's significance during the launch. "The HUAWEI Mate 90 Series is equipped with our flagship Tau chipset across the entire series. Through vertical integration of hardware, software, chips, and cloud, we have achieved a comprehensive evolution in design, performance, imaging, reliability, and smart user experience," Yu stated.
The series features enhanced durability through the new Kunlun Xuanwu architecture. The camera cover utilizes Optical Kunlun Glass for improved drop resistance, while the display is protected by third-generation Kunlun Glass. The phones maintain IP68 dust and water resistance.
HUAWEI states that the LogicFolding Tau chipset significantly boosts device performance. The various Kirin chips within the series—Kirin 9050 Pro, Kirin 9035, and Kirin 9030—offer performance increases ranging from 20% to 31% compared to previous generations. Gaming performance is further enhanced with hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
The second-generation Linglong Display achieves a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The chipset also supports the HarmonyOS 7 operating system, and the series introduces improved connectivity features, including a converged Wi-Fi and cellular antenna architecture.
