Huawei Launches Xingji Positioning Technology for Lane-Level and Indoor Navigation
Huawei has introduced its new Xingji positioning technology, aimed at enhancing accuracy in challenging environments like tunnels, parking garages, and during sports activities.
Huawei unveiled its new Xingji positioning technology, designed to overcome the limitations of traditional positioning systems in complex environments such as tunnels, underground parking, and indoor areas.
The company stated that conventional GPS-based solutions are no longer sufficient for consumer needs in dense urban areas or during activities like running and skiing. The Xingji technology integrates GNSS signals, short-range chips, and AI-based algorithms to improve location accuracy.
A key focus of the development has been to enhance precision in situations with weak or absent signals. The technology promises sub-meter accuracy for lane-level navigation and enables more precise route tracking for runners and skiers. For instance, Huawei's Mate 90 series phones utilize this technology for track-level navigation on sports fields.
Huawei claims that Xingji technology enables lane-level positioning within tunnels for the first time, using AI-based speed estimation and geomagnetic matching. In parking garages, the technology can record parking locations with an accuracy of under 10 meters and a floor accuracy exceeding 95%.
The technology has also been adapted for sports. The Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 smartwatches feature a 5.4 dB improvement in GNSS signal reception, offering skiers more accurate and dynamic track monitoring. Huawei also noted extensive coverage of over 3,000 ski resorts with its mapping feature.
