Huawei Mate 90 Series Brings Back Intelligent Rotation Feature
Huawei's latest Mate 90 series smartphones have reintroduced the "intelligent rotation" feature, previously removed. It automatically adjusts screen orientation based on face direction.
Huawei has brought back its intelligent rotation feature with the new Mate 90 series flagship smartphones. First introduced with the Mate 30 series in 2019, this functionality detects the direction of the user's face relative to the device and automatically switches between portrait and landscape screen orientations.
The feature was previously pre-installed on Huawei's flagship phones, including the P40, Mate 40, and P50 Pro (Kirin version). However, it was notably absent from the Mate 50 series, making its return in the Mate 90 line a significant update for users.
Users can enable the intelligent rotation by searching for the setting within their phone's options. The system relies on facial recognition rather than the device's gravity sensors, allowing it to function even when the phone is stationary or the user is lying down. Note that in certain scenarios, such as gaming, navigation, or low-light conditions, the screen rotation will still be based on the device's orientation sensors.
The return of intelligent rotation is part of Huawei's broader effort to reinstate and enhance its intelligent sensing capabilities. The company has also been reintroducing features like air gestures for screenshots and scrolling, alongside new additions such as air transfer and intelligent grip detection, signaling a continued focus on user interaction and device intelligence.
