Huawei Mate 90 Series Features New XMAGE Imaging System with Variable Aperture
Huawei has unveiled its Mate 90 smartphone series, incorporating an upgraded XMAGE imaging system. The new devices feature a continuously variable aperture and enhanced camera hardware.
Huawei has announced its new Mate 90 smartphone series, highlighting an upgraded XMAGE imaging system. A key feature across the series is a continuously variable aperture, allowing for precise adjustment of exposure between F1.4 and F4.0.
The camera hardware has seen significant enhancements. The devices include a third-generation 'Red Maple' color camera and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with a large sensor. The main camera offers an 18 EV dynamic range, intended to improve performance in challenging lighting conditions, such as strong backlighting.
The continuously variable aperture aims to enhance image quality in various scenarios. A wider aperture (F1.4) is designed for depth-of-field control in portraits, while a narrower aperture (F4.0) ensures greater sharpness in wider shots. The new technology also promises seamless transitions in changing light, improving video capture.
Huawei emphasizes improvements in portrait and zoom photography. The company states the new cameras deliver more accurate skin tones and natural colors. The 200-megapixel telephoto lens is said to produce clear images even at 20x zoom, with its video capabilities also developed for better stability and clarity.
