Huawei MateBook Pro S: New Lightweight Laptop Unveiled

Huawei has released its new MateBook Pro S laptop, weighing a mere 798 grams. Richard Yu, Huawei Technologies Executive Director and Terminal BG President, shared a disassembly video of the device, highlighting its lightness, which was likened to "a cup of milk tea."

The device utilizes a new magnesium-lithium alloy, making it 25 percent lighter than commonly used magnesium-aluminum alloys. To address potential oxidation issues with lithium, Huawei developed an ultra-thin protective coating and employed a vacuum deposition process, ensuring both durability and low weight.

Internally, the MateBook Pro S features a three-segment modular motherboard designed for space efficiency and performance. This architecture allows for the integration of over 2500 components into a compact area, enabled by Huawei's full-stack, end-to-end research and development capabilities. Additionally, the laptop's chassis incorporates a mortise and tenon joint structure, inspired by traditional Chinese carpentry, enhancing rigidity and drop resistance without external screws.

The MateBook Pro S is part of Huawei's new lineup of HarmonyOS-powered laptops, emphasizing extreme portability. With a thickness of 11.9 mm, it is marketed as the "world's lightest 14-inch all-metal notebook." The laptop is available in multiple color options, with different versions ranging in weight from 798 to 825 grams.
