Huawei NG WAN Solution Enters Large-Scale Commercial Use
Huawei announced its NG WAN solution has entered large-scale commercial use. The technology focuses on enhancing network security, efficiency, and autonomy for the AI era.

Huawei has announced that its NG WAN (Next Generation Wide Area Network) solution has entered a phase of large-scale commercial deployment. The company highlighted advancements in the solution during the UBBF 2026 Intelligent IP Network Summit in Vienna. This new phase aims to support operator growth and improve network performance to meet the demands of artificial intelligence applications.
The solution incorporates a multi-layered security system covering device, link, and service levels. At the device level, Huawei utilizes dedicated threat prevention units (TPU) and advanced algorithms capable of identifying over 95% of threats and detecting advanced persistent threats (APT) within minutes. On the data plane, Huawei's proprietary network processors and intelligent flow identification algorithms expedite attack detection and significantly reduce the risks of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
Link-level security is enhanced with quantum-safe solutions, increasing encryption performance and reducing network construction costs. At the service level, a depth defense strategy minimizes response times to DDoS attacks and improves the detection of unknown threats and ransomware.
The NG WAN solution also aims to optimize computing power, which is critical for AI applications. The solution's AI Fabric technology and other network enhancements ensure lossless packet transmission and reduce hardware requirements. This enables operators to offer improved service experiences and new business opportunities for enterprise clients.
According to Huawei, the network architecture also supports Level 4 (L4) autonomy in areas such as fault management, network change management, and cybersecurity. Over 60 operators globally are already using Huawei's NG WAN solution, and the company plans to continue collaborating with industry partners to accelerate the solution's worldwide adoption.
