Huawei Phones Share Only Network Capabilities Between Devices
Huawei's new network sharing feature enables connectivity between devices, but direct communication like calls and SMS is not supported between phones.
Huawei has launched a new feature for its devices that allows for the sharing of network capabilities. The "multi-device mutual communication sharing" function, first introduced with the Mate 90 series, enables users to combine and allocate network resources across multiple Huawei devices.
While a phone can share its network capabilities, including eSIM, with a tablet, the direct communication between two phones using this feature is limited to network sharing only. This means users cannot make calls or send SMS messages between phones through this specific function.
For the network sharing to function, both the sharing and receiving devices must be running HarmonyOS version 7 or higher. A single device can provide network access to up to three other devices simultaneously or connect to three devices at once. Huawei utilizes cloud-based acceleration to enhance the internet browsing experience.
Currently, the Mate 90 and XT 2 series are supported as recipients of network sharing. Future updates are expected to extend support to more phone models, as well as tablets and PCs, broadening the scope of this cross-device functionality.
