Huawei Presents Six Global Power Showcases

During HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, Huawei presented six global power showcases in Shanghai, illustrating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization within the energy sector. The Global Energy Summit, themed "AI × Energy: Unlocking a New Power System," convened over 600 representatives from global power companies, industry organizations, and ecosystem partners to explore new pathways for combining energy transformation with digital and intelligent technologies.

The showcased pilot projects cover the entire electricity supply chain, from generation to consumption, and span both domestic and international markets. These initiatives demonstrate a shift from one-way technology deployment to a synergy between computing power and energy. Examples include digitally and intelligently transformed power grids in Brazil and modernized distribution networks in China.

The broader energy landscape is undergoing significant changes, driven by the transition to renewable energy sources and the increasing demands from data centers. Huawei highlighted the critical importance of managing low-voltage grids, presenting six key capabilities for this domain: observability, measurability, controllability, adaptability, commercializability, and traceability.

David Sun, CEO of Huawei's Energy Digitalization Business Unit, emphasized the need for faster, higher-quality, and more cost-effective data solutions to enhance transparency in low-voltage networks. He stated that creating a new power system requires the industry to prioritize digital talent, digital infrastructure, and a regulated digital asset base (RAB). Huawei plans to continue leveraging its strengths in information and communication technology. The company aims to collaborate with global energy companies to foster sector-wide innovation and support the modernization of the energy industry.
