Huawei Qiankun Driving System: Reverses on Narrow Roads, Does Not Disengage
Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system will not disengage when encountering oncoming traffic on narrow roads, instead opting to reverse. It can also assist human drivers with speed adjustments.
Huawei has addressed user queries regarding its Qiankun intelligent driving system. The company confirmed that the system does not automatically disengage when encountering oncoming vehicles on narrow roads. Instead, it can execute a reversing maneuver to ensure a safe passage.
The Qiankun system is described as utilizing multiple sensors, including cameras and lidar, to accurately perceive other vehicles and obstacles. Its ability to assess road width and plan avoidance routes is based on its WEWA 2.0 architecture, enabling automatic responses and the creation of space for oncoming traffic.
Furthermore, Huawei stated that the Qiankun system can offer safety assistance even when not actively engaged, during human-driven operation. Particularly on winding mountain roads, the system can identify risks and help the driver adjust speed for safety. However, the company emphasizes that the system is an aid and does not replace the driver's responsibility and driving behavior.
The system is also designed to detect unexpected hazards, such as pedestrians or obstacles appearing suddenly near construction sites or parked cars. Multi-sensor fusion and risk field technology help anticipate and react to such scenarios, employing automatic emergency braking when necessary.
