Huawei Refines Luxeed V9 MPV Specs to Indicate L3 Autonomous Driving Capability

Huawei has updated the description of its Luxeed V9 MPV's driver assistance system on its official website, a change noted by Chinese tech publication IT Home. The vehicle's system is now referred to as an 'L3 level autonomous driving architecture design', a refinement from its initial 'assisted driving redundant architecture' classification.

The Luxeed V9, Harmony Autonomy's first flagship MPV, began deliveries in June. It was launched as the first MPV equipped with an 896-line lidar and is priced between 389,800 and 519,800 yuan. Upon its release, Huawei's site listed the system under a more general 'assisted driving redundant architecture'.

The recent adjustment specifically labels the Max+ and higher trims of the Luxeed V9 with the 'L3 level autonomous driving architecture design'. This change was made without a formal announcement but has been observed in the vehicle's updated specifications online.

These changes align with earlier statements made by Luxeed Auto executive Zhao Changjiang in April, who indicated that the V9 featured 'L3 hardware pre-embedding'. He had also confirmed to users that an upgrade to L3 capabilities would be possible, responding with "Yes" when asked about next year's potential. The website update may reflect readiness for future software deployments enabling L3 functionality.
