Huawei Releases White Paper on Intelligent WANs for the AI Era

Huawei released a white paper on intelligent Wide Area Networks (WANs) for the AI era on September 17, 2026, during the HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 event in Shanghai. The publication emphasizes the importance of establishing an intelligent connectivity infrastructure to accelerate enterprise digital transformation.

The event brought together infrastructure managers, industry experts, and business leaders to discuss the significance and urgency of laying the foundation for intelligent connectivity. Industry representatives noted that the integration of AI across various sectors is increasing demands on network security, coverage, real-time performance, and deterministic guarantees.

Colin Hu, Vice President of Huawei's Global Public Sector BU, stated that global networks face challenges in both expanding coverage and enabling agile AI deployment. He stressed the need to balance inclusive coverage with intelligence to build a robust foundation for intelligent WANs.

Dustin Kehoe, Head of AMEA Tech Research at GlobalData, highlighted that AI necessitates a profound modernization of WAN architecture. Traditional networks are unable to handle the massive, real-time data flows required by AI, calling for distributed, edge-intelligent infrastructures and the provision of a deterministic user experience.
