Huawei reveals Kirin 9050 Pro chip architecture, announces mass production
Huawei unveiled detailed architectural diagrams for its Kirin 9050 Pro chip in Shanghai. The company announced the chip's successful mass production with support from China's semiconductor industry.
Huawei revealed detailed architectural diagrams for its Kirin 9050 Pro chip during a media communication meeting in Shanghai. The company also announced that the chip has been successfully mass-produced with the support of China's domestic semiconductor industry.
Despite US restrictions affecting its access to advanced chip manufacturing, Huawei has focused on bolstering its domestic semiconductor capabilities. The Kirin 9050 Pro chip incorporates a new generation of 灵犀 (Lingxi) CPU, 马良 (Maliang) GPU, and a 达芬奇 (Da Vinci) architecture-based NPU, alongside an enhanced AI ISP.
Huawei described the mass production as a significant achievement, while acknowledging ongoing challenges in the sector. These include tooling chains, process variation compensation, inter-layer communication overhead optimization, and power consumption control.
The company emphasized the importance of open collaboration for the future of the semiconductor industry. Huawei called for cooperation from industry and academic sectors, stating that no single company can solve all the industry's challenges alone.
