Huawei Showcases Six Global Energy Projects Leveraging AI
Huawei presented six global energy reference projects at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, demonstrating the application of AI and digital technologies across the electricity value chain. The showcase highlighted the synergy between AI and energy.

Chinese technology company Huawei showcased six global reference projects at the HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 event in Shanghai, demonstrating the practical application of AI and digital technologies throughout the electricity value chain, from generation to consumption. The company also hosted the "AI × Energy: Unlocking a New Power System" Global Electric Power Summit, where over 600 industry representatives convened to discuss the energy sector's transformation through digital solutions and AI. During the summit, Huawei emphasized the shift towards a new power system that integrates computing infrastructure and electrical grids more closely. The event highlighted how AI is becoming a key tool for modernizing the power system, particularly in managing low-voltage networks, which requires enhanced visibility and data management. Six core capabilities were outlined: observation, measurement, control, regulation, transaction handling, and full traceability. David Sun, CEO of Huawei Electric Power Digitalization Business Unit, stated that achieving full transparency in low-voltage networks boils down to faster data access, higher data quality, and cost-effectiveness. He stressed that the development of the new power system should prioritize digital capabilities, digital infrastructure, and a digitally regulated asset base (RAB). The six showcased projects span diverse applications, including a digital and intelligent grid for CEMIG in Brazil, an intelligent diagnostics system for a distribution network in Shaoshan, China, and a digital UHV converter station in Zhejiang. Huawei plans to continue focusing on its information and communication technology (ICT) strengths and collaborate with energy enterprises, standards organizations, and industry partners to further develop solutions for the power sector.
