Huawei Showcases Six Global Power System Initiatives Integrating AI
Huawei unveiled six global power system projects at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, focusing on the synergy between artificial intelligence and energy technology.

Huawei hosted the 2026 Global Electric Power Summit at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, under the theme "AI × Energy: Unlocking a New Power System." The event convened over 600 representatives from global power companies, industry organizations, ecosystem partners, and media to explore new pathways for integrating the energy transition with digital and intelligent technologies.
At the summit, Huawei, alongside global power companies, unveiled six power system showcases demonstrating end-to-end digital and intelligent transformation practices. These initiatives cover the entire power chain, from generation to consumption, signifying a substantial step for the power industry towards computing-power synergy.
The global energy landscape is undergoing profound change, with distributed renewable energy becoming crucial for reducing external dependencies while balancing grid resilience and universal electricity access. Philippe Adam, Secretary-General of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE), emphasized that the power industry is facing a massive transformation driven by the energy transition, AI data centers, and digitalization.
Addressing challenges like the renewable energy transition, intelligent transformation, and global electricity access for 700 million people, AI is presented as an essential tool for the power system. Huawei identifies low-voltage grids, a current bottleneck, as a future primary arena for AI. Effective management of these low-voltage systems requires six core capabilities: observability, measurability, controllability, adjustability, tradability, and traceability.
David Sun, CEO of Huawei Electric Power Digitalization Business Unit, stated that low-voltage transparency is about faster data, higher quality, and greater cost-efficiency. Unlocking a new power system necessitates prioritizing digital talent, digital infrastructure, and a digital regulated asset base. The six showcased projects, including CEMIG's digital grid in Brazil and China Southern Power Grid's microgrid initiatives, illustrate successful practices across diverse scenarios in the intelligent era.
