Huawei has announced that the first version of its intelligent driving system, ADS Max V5.0, is set to be released soon. This update aims to enhance driving efficiency, passenger comfort, and safety reliability compared to the previous ADS 4 version.

The new ADS Max V5.0 is reported to deliver a 30% increase in efficiency and comfort and a 50% improvement in safety. The system is designed to make smarter decisions in complex road conditions and exhibit greater foresight regarding upcoming road situations. This allows for earlier obstacle avoidance, smoother lane changes, and more gentle acceleration and deceleration.

Furthermore, the system's navigation-assisted driving (NCA) functionality will now be activatable in a wider range of scenarios. This includes roundabouts, rural roads, and roads without clear markings. A new city navigation cruise assist (RCA) feature will also be introduced, which operates even without a set navigation route. This function can recognize traffic lights, handle continuous passage through intersections, and perform autonomous overtaking and lane changes.

Parking features are also being upgraded, including direct navigation to parking spots, the ability to add waypoints within designated areas, plug-and-charge services without scanning, and a parking guard function to reduce the risk of occupied spots. Huawei has also enhanced the system's capability for parking in challenging spaces.

The company also highlighted proactive safety measures, such as an automatic anti-rear-end collision assist. The system can detect an imminent rear-end collision risk and actively accelerate to mitigate the impact if there is safe space ahead to maneuver.
