Huawei unit Yinwang partners with CATL on battery-swapping technology
Huawei's automotive technology arm, Yinwang, has partnered with CATL to develop vehicles compatible with the battery manufacturer's automated swapping infrastructure.

Huawei-owned Yinwang has signed a strategic agreement with CATL and its subsidiary, Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology (CAES), to advance battery-swapping capabilities. The collaboration aims to merge Huawei's Qiankun driving technology with the Choco-Swap system.
The partnership seeks to integrate vehicle, station, and cloud data to automate the battery exchange process. According to the companies, the system will allow vehicles to autonomously locate stations and complete a full battery replacement within 99 seconds.
Beyond developing the infrastructure, Yinwang intends to work with its existing automotive partners to ensure future vehicle models are compatible with the CAES network. The deal was formalized on October 19 in Ningde, Fujian, marking a push toward standardized energy solutions for electric vehicles.
