Huawei Unveils New Kirin 9050 Pro Chip

Huawei has unveiled its new Kirin 9050 Pro processor, incorporating logic folding technology. This advancement allows for layered arrangement of chip components, leading to enhanced performance and reduced signal paths. The new chip was first showcased at the company's HarmonyOS 7 launch event, which also featured the debut of the HUAWEI Mate XT 2 foldable phone.

Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, commented on the processor's release. He stated that the Kirin 9050 Pro marks a significant stride for China's domestic chip industry. Jin noted that after six years, Kirin chips have undergone a "nirvana," representing a new milestone for indigenous chip development.

The Huawei Mate XT 2, equipped with the Kirin 9050 Pro, promises a 42% improvement in overall system performance compared to its predecessor. This boost is achieved through deep synergy between hardware, software, the operating system, and cloud services. The foldable phone is priced starting at 19,999 yuan.

The logic folding technology enables a more compact chip design by layering functional units, akin to building vertically, which shortens signal transmission paths and lowers latency. This development is crucial for pushing the boundaries of mobile processing power and efficiency.
