Huawei Upgrades Xiaoyi AI to Combine Fast and Slow Reasoning
Huawei has upgraded its smart assistant Xiaoyi's AI capabilities with an agent-based architecture. The new version can merge fast and slow reasoning to handle more complex tasks.

Huawei has significantly upgraded the artificial intelligence powering its smart assistant, Xiaoyi. The new version, built on an agent-based self-evolving architecture, can now merge fast and slow reasoning processes to execute more complex tasks.
The upgrade introduces memory and autonomous learning capabilities to the AI, enabling it to reflect and evolve over time. The rollout is happening randomly and gradually across devices, independent of specific models. Users require their mobile system to be on HarmonyOS 6.0 or later and the Xiaoyi app to be version 11.6.4.300 or above.
Huawei states that the new Xiaoyi AI performs significantly better on tasks requiring reasoning compared to the older version. For instance, setting an alarm for 5 minutes before sunrise is now completed directly after an appropriate reasoning process. The execution process for complex tasks is displayed in the status bar, aiding in the identification of the upgraded Xiaoyi AI.
Further enhancements include improved conversational context continuity and memory integration, leading to more personalized and cohesive interactions. Xiaoyi currently supports three intelligent agents, such as photo editing and creative drawing, with more agents in development.
