Huawei's "鸿蒙智行" (Hongmeng Zhixing) initiative has introduced the V8 MPV, a vehicle designed to address the specific transport requirements of families. The company states that the success of existing business-oriented MPVs does not fill the gap for ordinary family travel, asserting that MPVs represent the future of family cars.

The project prioritized improving the vehicle's efficiency, with a significant focus on achieving low aerodynamic drag. Engineers reportedly worked to balance low drag with ample interior space and appealing aesthetics, avoiding compromises. Huawei emphasizes that aerodynamics was a fundamental part of the design process from its inception.

The V8 MPV reportedly achieved an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.226 after hundreds of wind tunnel simulations. This result was obtained while ensuring sufficient space for family travel, ease of entry and exit, and cargo capacity. The company claims this is the lowest drag coefficient in its class based on publicly available data.

The V8 MPV, which debuted at the Chengdu Auto Show, is expected to launch this month. It features a closed front grille, electric sliding doors, and new wheel designs intended to blend luxury with sportiness. The vehicle is positioned for diverse usage scenarios, emphasizing a refined appearance.
