Huawei's NG-WAN Solution Enters Large-Scale Commercial Deployment to Drive Operator Growth
Huawei announced the widespread commercial deployment of its NG-WAN solution, marking a significant step for network operators to leverage artificial intelligence. The solution focuses on enhancing security, efficiency, and network autonomy.

Huawei has entered the extensive commercial deployment phase for its NG-WAN solution, the company announced on October 15 in Vienna. This move aims to drive growth for network operators in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), with a particular emphasis on improving security, efficiency, and network autonomy.
The NG-WAN solution incorporates a multi-layered security system that spans device, connection, and service levels. It features advanced threat protection units and behavioral analysis algorithms designed to operate independently from the router operating system. Additionally, the solution supports quantum-secure algorithms and integrated quantum key distribution (QKD) to bolster data transmission security and extend network reach.
Key to the solution is its reported enhancement of computing efficiency and reduction of packet loss, crucial for AI-driven applications. Huawei's AI Fabric technology optimizes network performance and reduces hardware requirements. A specific "lossless starnet" algorithm aims for zero packet loss over long distances, enabling an on-site-like experience and accelerating the monetization of new services.
Furthermore, the NG-WAN solution introduces autonomous network capabilities, addressing areas such as fault handling, network changes, and security enhancements. Huawei has assisted multiple operators in achieving Level 4 autonomy, with one South African operator cited as the first globally to reach this level in an IP network. Over 60 network operators have reportedly implemented the solution worldwide.
