Chinese technology company Huawei announced that its Qiankun intelligent driving system (Qiankun智驾) has been deployed in over 1.9 million vehicles.

The company stated that vehicles equipped with the Qiankun system have collectively accumulated over 12 billion kilometers of assisted driving. Huawei highlighted the system's safety by comparing it to China's average rate of severe accidents, estimated at one severe accident per 1.8 million kilometers driven.

According to Huawei, the safety level of the Qiankun system during assisted driving operations is 4.92 times higher than the Chinese average, considering accidents defined by airbag deployment or seatbelt pretensioner activation.

The announcement follows the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) release of a new mandatory national standard for combination driver assistance systems in intelligent connected vehicles. The new standard, GB 47955—2026, is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
