Youth for Human Rights International and United for Human Rights have initiated a global campaign leading up to Human Rights Day on December 10, 2026. The initiative aims to facilitate 500 events across 78 countries.
The campaign marks two significant milestones: the 78th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948, and the 25th anniversary of Youth for Human Rights International. The organizations seek to engage communities worldwide in promoting the Declaration's 30 articles.
Planned activities include human rights marches, peace walks, petition drives, seminars, concerts, art exhibitions, and school programs. Individuals, schools, businesses, and non-profits are encouraged to participate. Organizers are providing participants with toolkits, including step-by-step guides and free educational materials, to assist in event planning and execution.
Participants are encouraged to be creative in their event formats. All event plans can be shared with the organizers via email and will be featured on the organizations' websites and social media channels. Youth for Human Rights International, founded in 2001, focuses on educating youth about human rights and promoting tolerance and peace.
