Humanoid Robots Train for Household and Industrial Tasks Ahead of Competition

The second World Humanoid Robot Games are scheduled to begin on August 22 at Beijing's National Speed Skating Oval, the "Ice Ribbon." The event will feature 666 teams and 2056 robots from 16 countries, representing a significant expansion from the previous competition.

The games encompass 51 events across nine real-world scenarios, including household chores, hotel services, and industrial applications. In household tasks, robots are being trained to perform complex actions such as organizing items and folding clothes, requiring advanced coordination and autonomous planning capabilities.

Teams are equipping their robots with high-definition cameras and employing large language models to enhance their ability to handle soft materials like clothing and bed linens. Data collected during training is being used to continuously refine and optimize the robots' performance.

Competitors must complete tasks such as item sorting and clothing management within a 30-minute timeframe. Some robots are also incorporating "lifelong learning mechanisms" to adapt and maintain operational efficiency over extended periods, compensating for component wear.

The World Humanoid Robot Games serve as a critical benchmark for advancements in humanoid robotics, demonstrating the progress in autonomous task execution and paving the way for future applications in domestic and industrial settings.
