Hunkeler AG Enhances Production and Service Processes with ERP Upgrade

Hunkeler AG, a global manufacturer of paper processing and digital print finishing equipment, has updated its proALPHA ERP system. The upgrade aims to enhance the efficiency of its production and service processes and further digitize its operations.

Established in 1922, Hunkeler AG develops and produces finishing systems for digital printing. The company has utilized proALPHA ERP since 2006. The latest upgrade introduced new modules, including Integration Workbench (INWB) and Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS), which improve integration with the processes of its subsidiary, Hunkeler Fertigung AG, and significantly reduce administrative workload.

As part of the upgrade, Hunkeler has also focused on implementing paperless processes, particularly in after-sales service. Through a mobile service solution, technicians now digitally plan assignments, book spare parts usage, and record activities directly in the system. This has led to increased efficiency and simplified administration.

The company also emphasizes sustainability. "Paper processing is a prerequisite for our business model," stated CEO Michel Hunkeler. "At the same time, paper is a limited natural resource. Therefore, it is important to print the right things." Through proALPHA ERP, Hunkeler has managed to increase its turnover and market share without expanding its workforce, while keeping system customizations to a minimum.

Hunkeler AG plans to continue its digital development by expanding data exchange with suppliers via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and by fully leveraging the potential of production data collection and evaluation.
