Hyperwear Appoints Dr. Kristen M. Beavers as Science Advisor
Functional fitness equipment maker Hyperwear has named Dr. Kristen M. Beavers as its first Science Advisor. Her expertise will support the company's product development and educational initiatives.

Hyperwear, a functional fitness brand known for its Hyper Vest weighted vests and SandBell weights, announced on July 26, 2026, the appointment of Dr. Kristen M. Beavers, PhD, MPH, RD, as its inaugural Science Advisor. The announcement was made in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Beavers' research spans areas including metabolic health, physical function, aging, body composition, nutrition, and exercise science. In her advisory capacity, she will offer external scientific guidance to inform Hyperwear's product development and educational efforts concerning loaded movement, weighted vests, and rucking, aligning with the company's Metabolic Strength™ mission.
"Interest in weighted vests, rucking, and loaded movement is growing quickly, especially among people thinking about strength, aging, body composition, and long-term health," stated Dirk Buikema, founder and CEO of Hyperwear. "That growth creates a responsibility to educate responsibly. Dr. Beavers' guidance will help us build a stronger science foundation while staying clear about what research does and does not show."
The company clarifies that Dr. Beavers' role is educational and consultative, not involving product endorsement, testing, clinical validation, or medical advice. Hyperwear aims to leverage its science platform to help consumers and professionals better understand loaded movement and metabolic health in context.
