Hyundai and Kia Invest in AI Infrastructure Firm VAST Data
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have invested in US-based AI infrastructure firm VAST Data. The investment follows the automakers' use of VAST's platform for advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving.

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have made an investment in US-based AI infrastructure company VAST Data, the latter announced on October 15.
The investment comes after Hyundai and Kia utilized VAST Data's platform for their autonomous driving and robotics initiatives. Specifically, 42dot, the automakers' global software and autonomous mobility unit, consolidated workloads for advanced driver assistance systems and language models onto VAST's platform, which ran on Nvidia hardware.
VAST reported that this deployment halved storage requirements for sensor and video data and allowed 42dot to expand capacity within its existing data center footprint. This indicates a practical validation of VAST's technology for data-intensive AI applications in the automotive sector.
The investment follows VAST Data's Series F funding round in April 2026, which valued the company at $30 billion and included investors such as Nvidia and Fidelity Management & Research Company. Hyundai Motor Group also has a broader partnership with Nvidia focused on connected and autonomous vehicle development.
