Hyundai Motor Group to Invest $15.5 Billion in India by 2032

South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group announced on October 13 that it plans to invest US$15.5 billion in India over a seven-year period starting in 2026. The announcement followed a meeting between group chairman Chung Eui-sun and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

The planned spending will be allocated towards factories, research and development, the local parts supply network, and future technologies. The group also intends to establish an investment subsidiary in India to support local companies and startups.

Hydai's decision to significantly expand its presence in India aligns with the country's push to bolster its domestic automotive sector. India offers incentives that support local production, including for electric vehicles and their components. Additionally, the country's import duties on fully built-up cars encourage foreign automakers to establish manufacturing facilities within its borders.

The automaker also views India as a strategic base for exporting to emerging markets. This substantial investment reinforces Hyundai Motor Group's position as a major player in India's automotive landscape.
