Hyundai Motor announced that it will deliver the first autonomous taxis developed in collaboration with Waymo by the end of 2026. The vehicles will be based on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 model.

The commercial deployment of these robotaxis is slated to begin in Las Vegas in late 2026, operated by Hyundai's Motional unit. The company plans to expand the service to additional cities in 2027, with Waymo potentially launching its international autonomous taxi services as early as 2027.

This move is part of a broader push by Hyundai to develop a comprehensive range of autonomous driving capabilities. The company's Atria AI system, designed for Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving, is expected to be deployed by the end of 2026 and aims to cover up to Level 4 autonomy in the future.

Hyundai Motor Group is also working to unify sensor architecture within the Nvidia ecosystem. This initiative is intended to standardize and enable mutual data utilization across Hyundai, Kia, 42dot, and Motional.
