IBM releases MQ 10.0: A technical overview of the new version
IBM has launched MQ 10.0, its first major version update in a decade. ITARICON evaluates the implications for system resilience and operational infrastructure.

IBM MQ 10.0 marks a milestone as the platform’s first major version release in ten years. As a foundational component for data messaging in global banking and industrial sectors, the update represents a shift toward cloud-centric engineering while maintaining core reliability.
This release consolidates all Continuous Delivery updates since October 2024, providing a five-year Long-Term Support (LTS) window. ITARICON notes that this transition provides organizations with greater planning certainty, as it integrates 1.5 years of technical progress into a stable, unified version.
The update introduces native, dependency-free high availability and disaster recovery, eliminating the need for third-party cluster software or storage replication tools. This includes cross-region replication on Linux and intelligent, quorum-based failover across availability zones, addressing a common pain point in IT consultancy projects.
Additionally, IBM has expanded its deployment options by introducing "Reserved Instance" support on AWS and the M2004 appliance. These updates aim to bridge legacy on-premise operations with contemporary cloud architectures, providing flexible integration pathways for large-scale enterprise environments.
