Idle Fish Establishes Task Force to Combat Pornographic Recruitment

Chinese online platform Idle Fish (闲鱼) has announced the formation of a special task force to combat the use of pornographic content and recruitment on its platform. This move follows media reports alleging the platform's involvement in such activities.

Idle Fish stated it has frozen over 98,000 risk accounts since the beginning of 2026 suspected of engaging in pornographic recruitment. The platform has also transferred leads to the public security department and collaborated with law enforcement in 15 operations targeting pornographic recruitment rings this year. The company emphasized that the vast majority of its millions of listings are legitimate.

The platform noted that combating pornographic recruitment is challenging, as criminal groups use traffic platforms for entry, while actual illicit transactions or fraudulent activities are moved off-platform. They also commonly employ variant codes and language, complicating identification and governance.

Idle Fish is calling for other platforms to join in a coordinated effort to effectively cut off illegal supply chains. The platform has also clarified certain media reports, including claims of "处宝可约" (implying sexual arrangement) appearing on the platform, stating it originated from user information in a corporate messaging app, not Idle Fish itself.
